The location was perfect for hiking in and around the area. The staff, the room, the evening meal and breakfast were all exceptional!
Amazing value for money.
The building itself with the backdrop of the mountains was truly breathtaking.
Highly recommended.

The house keeper who was there during my stay was very friendly, welcoming and helpful. I also briefly met the owner who was also very nice. The view here is absolutely incredible and nature is on the doorstep I was looking for some peace and to be immersed in nature for my stay in Buttermere and staying here gave me that. There is also a private entrance to the lake which is nice. It’s a ten minute walk to the village from here. They include a hearty breakfast if you want it. The room had everything I needed.
Buttermere itself is so peaceful and beautiful and though a small place there is so much to explore I feel I only scratched the surface on this stay. There’s a lot to explore I walked a lot and swam!
I recommend and would return for some peace if I need it.

The hosts, Nicola and Terry, were fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The property was well kept and organised, with a dog friendly dining area. The room was very clean and comfortable, although I did bump my head once or twice on the slanted beams 🤪 😂.
The food was excellent, particularly the steak and ale pie 😋.
Rolo really enjoyed his first holiday and the pampering he received 🐶.

I liked the area as there are some lovely little villages within a 20 mile radius. It was nice to see all around without having to travel far. There is lots to see and do, whatever your heart desires in almost on your doorstep. We had our dinner out in Anna's restaurant and OMG the batter is so crispy and tasty, the chips were crispy on the outside and so soft in the middle. It was such good value and sits right on the sea front.

Cockermouth is a pretty town with many buildings of interest. Wordsworth's birthplace is there, but it is closed in winter.
The rivers Cocker and Derwent flow through the town with banks of daffodils in spring.
Plenty of small shops, restaurants and traditional pubs as well as two supermarkets.

Cockermouth has potential but is in need of more eateries, we stayed 3 nights and struggled to find anywhere nice for meals. The Bush is a lovely pub with good food but that's all we had to choose in the area.

Plenty of bars, restaurants and takeaways ,and a good range of shops and supermarkets. There are parks and river walks.there seemed to be plenty of car parking although we didn't need them,so I don't know what the costs were.
The apartment was based in an excellent location in Cockermouth as I was here for a wedding weekend. Only a few minutes walk to the high street which had some lovely bars and restaurants. The apartment was really good value for money and parking which was free of charge. The host kept us updated throughout so we knew how to enter the facility and get WiFi access. I would stay at the property again on my next trip to the Lake District.
The hotel is beautifully and sympathetically presented in line with the period of the property. It offers comfort and luxury and felt like an upmarket home from home. We enjoyed relaxing in the well designed and spacious room as well as visiting the wider surroundings of Cockermouth. We have already recommended Tithe Barn to others and plan to visit ourselves again. We loved it.
The building looks magnificent, and inside; wow, that staircase is awesome. Breakfast was wonderful, a good choice of menu. The hotel is located just a few metres from Cockermouth's main street. Cockermouth is just a short drive from one of my favourite parts of the Lake District: Buttermere - a great place of wild water swimming but don't tell anyone.
Lovely double room, amazing cooked breakfast and welcoming hosts. A fabulous base for exploring Cockermouth and the Lake District. Buses to the Lakes from the main street are about a 6 min walk away, so super easy to get around. Highly recommended!
Beautiful, clean home from home. Great location for a walk down to town and parking right outside the door. Little garden was great for our dog and must be lovely in the summer.
Thanks for a lovely stay in Daffodil House, Cockermouth.
A nice family run country house hotel. Friendly staff. Dinner & breakfast was good, very plentiful & good value. While dog friendly, they were segregated in a separate dinning room - an excellent idea. Good size comfortable room.
It is a really unique place to stay in Cockermouth. Right in the centre and very quiet as it is set back from the main road. It is very cozy and it has everything you need for your stay. It is also dog friendly, which is a bonus!
Bears lodge was lovely. The lodge was lovely and clean, facilities were good too. Area cockermouth was easy to get to plenty of shops. Pubs were lovely too, the grey hound Inn was beautiful, food tasty too.
historic, large property, clean, fully equipped and a special treat delivered part way thru our stay! We used this as a base to hike/explore the Lake District and it worked beautifully.
Staff were excellent, special mention to Kane who couldn't do enough for us. It's a family run hotel, with the friendliness you'd hope for.
Evening meal was great.
